Blair Boats: Crafting Excellence Since 1989

Blair Boats was established in 1989 in Warkworth, New Zealand, by master boat builder David Blair. With a passion for crafting high-quality vessels, David set out to build custom boats that not only meet but exceed the expectations of boating enthusiasts.

Our Journey

Over the first decade, Blair Boats produced five custom vessels ranging from 35ft classic designs to 75ft fast carbon fiber cruisers. In 2006, the company relocated to Kerikeri, where David and his stepson, Laurie Jury, constructed the 8.5-meter racing trimaran 'Lucifer'.

Since then, we have specialized in refits and repairs for island cruising boats arriving in Opua. Notable projects include building the 55ft Elite design 'Loxleigh' and the 9m sailing catamaran 'Splice' designed by David Devillers.

Why Choose Blair Boats Among NZ Boat Builders

Founder and director Dave Blair has been building boats since 1980s, Daves experience ranges from building classic wooden boats off hand drawn lines to designing and building race winning ultra-light carbon fibre racing trimarans.  Dave has personally built eight new boats, overseen may more as the foreman for Robertsons boat yard and refitted more vessels than he can remember.

Dave’s stepson Laurie Jury is the current Manging director.  Laurie started working with Blair boats as teenager, along with senior boat builder Micheal Payne.

I know a shipwright when I see one, and this is some fantastic workmanship! In NC USA we do some of the same works rescuing yesterday's sailing vessels at Gryphon Yachts.

Blair Boats undertook a very detailed refurbishment without compromise to my classic 1968 9.5m launch. Their meticulous, and sympathetic approach (given the boat’s pedigree) from start to completion is testimony to their expertise and professionalism.

We're very grateful for the great work the Blair Boats team did on our classic yacht. They were prompt and always did what they said they would do.

They provided regular updates so we always knew how progress was going and ran options past us when decisions were needed. We felt like they were in our corner in trying to get the best and most practical results. For sure, we would highly recommend them.

Raffles

I transported my 12m launch “Raffles” into Blair’s boatyards’ undercover shed to replace the teak decking in the cockpit and glass/paint the decks.

Great to be undercover for this work with a good team of tradesmen who shared a variety of work skills to complete this fairly large task and a variety of other items that cropped up at the time.

Laurie is easy to deal with and would highly recommend him to tackle marine repairs.
