Blair Boats was commissioned to build a 32-metre traditional racing skiff, known as a fautasi, for a village in American Samoa.
The vessel was constructed using foam core with fibreglass epoxy resin, and finished with high-quality International Paints Perfection Pro topcoat for durability and performance.
Blair Boats engaged renowned designer Kevin Dibley for the design, with professional engineering completed by Peter Lawson, ensuring the vessel met both performance and structural requirements.
To enable efficient transport, the boat was built in three sections. These were shipped in a 40-foot container to Pago Pago, where Blair Boats completed final assembly and fit-out on site in American Samoa.
The project proved to be a major success. Just one month after launch, the boat went on to win the premier fautasi race in American Samoa in 2026, competing against strong competition, including two other newly built fautasi.
