Shanachie was the first boat that Dave Blair built under his own name back in the 1980s. Shanachie is a cold molded Whiting 47. She has since been refitted twice by Blair boats, once in 1996 when Dave and a young Laurie Jury (current managing director) flew to California to refit the vessel for the current owner, including adding a 'sugar scoop' to the stern. Then once again in New Zealand for the new owners at the Blair boats yard in Kerikeri. Shanachie has really stood the test of time out lasting many production boats built around the same time. Shanachie is still an active international cruiser currently moored in Opua NZ.
